Don’t fly Air Canada unless ….
I have to admit that over the past few years I have flown more than ever before than when I was based in Europe. Flying across the Atlantic or even internally within the continent of North America I have been booked on Canada’s national disaster, her airline.
As we are all aware few flights we take are direct and a transit is required before we reach our final destination.
With multiple flights to get to where we want to go its imperative that we get to our airports in time in order for baggage to be moved between aircraft and that we can also disembark and board the next aircraft for the next leg of our journey.
Most airlines I have traveled with accomplish this in the main by leaving on time and keeping to their flight schedules. The exception is always Air Canada who have failed on all the flights I have taken to simply meet that departure time stated.
When it then comes to the connection and the next airport so things get worse as time of arrival slips and slips.
As I write this blog entry I am sitting on an Air Canada flight to Munich operated by Air Canada on behalf of Lufthansa. The flight departed the customary 20 minutes late (there had been 3 gate changes prior to departure at Toronto and then the aircraft was towed in late as well). I land as 25 past the hour at my connection point and my next commences boarding at 35 past.
I asked about what the situation would be as my final destination is Pristina which isn’t as well served with flights as other European destinations to receive the answer of “see the agent when you disembark”.
It seems Air Canada has an arrogance towards its professionalism that has long been dropped by other carriers. I really must ensure I tell people who book my flights that any other airline apart from Air Canada is preferred by me!
Oh how I wish Lufthansa were running their own service. German efficiency and service (this Air Canada aircraft is so old, tatty and well lacking any modern amenities) is just whats required in the start of the 21st century.
As the words of the national anthem so clearly states “Oh Canada!”
So my best bet for a fuller flavour is NOT to fly Air Canada!
